Hamburg Moorburg

Renewable Energy on top of the last German Coal Power Plant

At a time when Germany was actively transitioning away from conventional energy generation, Hamburg-Moorburg stood as the last approved coal power plant. As a compensatory measure, policymakers mandated the integration of solar technology to power certain parts of the office complexes. We were entrusted with this project because we could meet the specific requirements set by the client.

Tasked with installing the solar system on a flat roof with foil coating and gravel bedding, the challenge was to secure the installation without penetrations (using only weights limited by the roof structure). During the installation, extra care was taken to prevent leaks. The solution we suggested involved the use of a special tray mounting system from the German market leader, Schletter, complemented by top-of-the-line solar modules from Solarworld.
