Greece (Goumenissa, Pontoiraklia)
Energyzing rural area in northern Greece
Spanning both open-field and rooftop installations, the solar venture of our founder with 2 partners in a country with a development trajectory akin to Pakistan has proven to be a successful investment. Operating in a region with comparable structural challenges—where emphasis on quality is often lacking—as the technical leader he has implemented and optimized his German quality standards and efficiency with local expertise. Ten years into operation, the facility in Greece stands without a single failure, functioning as seamlessly as the day it was commissioned, thanks to regular maintenance efforts. Despite the slightly higher initial investment costs, the returns have more than compensated, consistently yielding substantial profits each year.
Technical Highlights: The unique terrain posed challenges, leading to various open-field mounting methods, including piling and concrete foundations, especially on a steep slope. Other sections were mounted on tra strategically employed based on pezoidal metal roofs (warehouse). Diverse technologies were specific requirements: polycrystalline panels (Hyundai) for optimal ground mounting and thin-film panels (Sharp) for an east-west-oriented roof. SMA and Fronius inverters were chosen for their reliability.
Situated near the national border (2 km from North Macedonia), the facility boasts robust security measures, including fencing, warping wire, and camera surveillance. Yield data is remotely monitored via a data logger, with any anomalies promptly relayed to us, regardless of our global location.
An investment of nearly 1 million USD that has paid off.
